Lu Arie is a rising junior at Yale University from London, UK. She is a writer, director and editor whose work centres young protagonists and the coming-of-age experience. 
At the age of fourteen, Lu started making films under the branding 'Sullivan's Island Studios.' Her first film, 'Sign Me Up,' won 'Best Writer' at the International Teen Short Film Festival. The most recent film she directed, 'Hindsight,' won 'Best Cinematography' at the Yale Student Film Festival (2023) and 'Best Student Film' at the Future of Film Awards (2023).
Lu is an English major pursuing Creative Writing at Yale; at the end of her freshman year, she was awarded the J. Edward Meeker First-Year English Prize for an essay on the representation of diverse hair types in film and media. 
Lu is currently working on a documentary about the Dwight Neighbourhood in New Haven and working as an events photographer for the Yale Schwarzman Center. She is also editing her first Young Adult novel, which she hopes to eventually adapt into a feature film.
